Football

Football, often referred to as soccer in some countries, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s goal. Players primarily use their feet to control the ball, but they may also use other body parts except for their arms and hands. The sport is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game.

Football is one of the most popular sports globally, with a vast following and numerous professional leagues, tournaments, and competitions, most notably the FIFA World Cup. The game emphasizes teamwork, strategy, physical endurance, and skill. The standard length of a football match is typically 90 minutes, divided into two halves, with additional time added for stoppages. Football has significant cultural and social importance in many countries, fostering community, national pride, and international competition.
